Mama Cacao

Updated: Oct 18, 2023

Out of all the plants I have journeyed with over the past few years, the most consistent friend to this heart has been… Mama Cacao!

From sitting in ceremony with community to individual rituals at home, she’s the rememberance to keep opening your heart and to share your heart songs. Thank you Cacaocita:)

Cacao ceremonies have been around for thousands of years, with origins in Mayan and Aztec traditions in Central and South America, and are used for spiritual, medicinal and ceremonial purposes for inner awakening, emotional clearing & healing and purposeful creative guidance by awakening the heart chakra.

Cacao is known as “Food of the Gods.” Truly a superfood! Flavonoids found in raw Cacao can improve blood circulation, may lower blood pressure and protect against heart issues. Raw Cacao contains: Anandamide, the “bliss molecule” that improves mood while invoking feelings of euphoria. As well as, Phenylethylamine, the “love chemical” which causes endorphins and opiate-like neurochemicals to be released naturally and functions like an MAO inhibitor to allow more serotonin to circulate within your body.

Raw Cacao contains the highest level of antioxidants in the world along with the highest natural source of iron, magnesium, manganese and chromium These are important for de-stressing and balancing mood as well as countless other health benefits… Cacao has over 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries. It has an amazing ORAC score of 98,000 per 100g, vs blueberries at 2,400!!

Although she’s inspired an infinite number of ways to be prepared, my favourite way to prepare raw cacao is in the Vitamix (to avoid overheating) and blended with: *all organic

-love (the most important ingredient) spring water -dates -cinnamon -vanilla bean -ginger root -cardamon -star anise -coconut milk

After opening my heart to the Spirit of Cacao from Peru, Guatemala, Ecuador and the Philippines, I’m now on a journey with Costa Rican cacao and it feels extra luxurious & rich… Thank you to our cacao fairy friend for bringing some home for us Chocoprisma Costa Rica.

Grateful for all the hearts Mama Cacao has connected me with, all the rememberances she’s helped re:awaken and all the songs she’s inspired.

Thank you, thank you, thank you…

*For anyone new to cacao, we look forward to sharing a cup with you at one of October’s upcoming offerings.

Mush love:)

Jessica
